Firyal Al-Adhamy

Firyal an Iraqi Contemporary Artist, her work is inspired by the rich cultural history of Iraq and the Arab world
Throughout the years, Firyal’s style has evolved dramatically from detailed depictions of Bedouin costumes and jewelry to vibrant inscription paintings, collage and calligraphic wood carvings. In recent years much of her works have been in response to the devastating effects of war in Iraq, in particular the damage to its art and historical heritage. In an attempt to salvage pieces of Iraq’s culture, Firyal’s art captures the unique richness of Iraq’s culture and history.
Firyal has participated in many solo and joint exhibitions in London and the Middle East including Green Art Gallery Dubai, Al-Bareh Gallery, Bahrain and The British Museum, London. Her works have been collected by private collectors, institutions and corporations internationally, and International Museums.
Firyal was born in Baghdad and left her country in the early ‘70s to live in London. She is a self-taught artist who has been practicing art for over 25 years and currently resides in Manama, Bahrain
