Carolina Daley’s love of art can be traced to her native Italy, where she was born into a north Italian family that dates back to the Renaissance. Her Italian heritage has been an inspiration throughout her life and has given her an appreciation for art both modern and ancient, as well as a love of art history. She has studied in Italy and the United States and is excited to be part of the emerging trend towards a new realism
In 2005, a beginning oil painting class led her in a new direction
“The first time I tried oil paints was an epiphany for me. I immediately knew I had found my perfect medium. Oils allow me to achieve the realism and luminosity I strive for in my work. Sometimes an unexpected play of light on an everyday object will inspire me to take a closer look, to see with new eyes. I find that the more I observe my subject, the more I discover. I want to capture every detail in a scene, from the smallest dapple of light to the myriad colors hidden in a shadow, so that layer by layer I create the illusion of reality with my brush
Carolina lives in Arizona with her husband and three children. She is a member of the International Guild of Realism and Oil Painters of America
