Erte was born Romain de Tirtoff in November, 1892, in St. Petersburg, Russia. He left for Paris at the age of nineteen to pursue his career in the arts. Considered the father of the Art Deco design movement, Erte left his mark on fashion, theater and design. For more than 80 years, Erte produced work that changed the world of art.
